The House

The name Sa domo de sos massaios or the “farmers’ house” was chosen to remember our grandparents who lived here with their family since the early decades of the 1900s.

The Bed and Breakfast Sa domo de sos massaios or the “farmers ‘house” was born in 2018 with the renovation of our grand-parents’s house that was built in the 50s. During the restoration, we wanted to faithfully maintain the layout of the internal and external environments.

The house built after the war was composed on the ground floor of the rooms that reflected agricultural activities such as stables, warehouses, barns, rustic kitchen with old oven for cooking carasatu bread and on the upper floor there were the bedrooms and living room.

During the renovation we wanted to respect these environments by highlighting the peculiarity of the old house.

The interiors have been furnished with the old furniture in the house. The entrance is furnished with work utensils that bring back to a bygone era. The rooms all overlook the passageway whose large windows overlook the internal courtyard.

The house is located in Orosei in the historic center; the narrow streets made of stone, the arcades, the many churches and the Sardinian handicraft shops, make the inhabited center very suggestive and picturesque.
Next to the B&B is the humble church of the Madonna della Pietà dating back to 1640, from which the street takes its name.

Lovers of history and photography will not miss the Santuario di Sant’Antonio, located a few steps from the B&B. In the large courtyard stands the Pisan-era tower built in 1200.

Always a few steps from our B&B, in Piazza delle Anime, there is the old prison. It is a castle located on the border between the Giudicati of Gallura and Arborea which was used as a prison during the Spanish Aragonese period.

Piazza del Popolo, the beating heart of the historic center and of the entire village, is a 2-minute walk from the B&B.
